A short page, because this site sets no cookies at all. Traffic is measured with a cookieless tool, and there is no advertising or cross-site tracking to consent to.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store. They are commonly used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, or track how a site is used so the owner can measure and advertise.

What this site uses

This site does not set any cookies. There is no advertising on it and nothing that follows you to other websites, nothing is written to your browser's local or session storage, and there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Analytics

We do measure traffic, using Plausible. It is a privacy-focused analytics tool chosen precisely because it works without cookies: it stores nothing on your device, does not collect personal information, and cannot follow you between websites. What it records is aggregate, along the lines of how many people read a page and which site they arrived from.

Because it sets no cookies and collects no personal information, it needs no consent under South African or European rules, and there is nothing here that identifies you to opt out of.

One thing worth stating plainly: the script is served from this domain rather than from the analytics provider, so the content blockers that would normally stop it do not. That is done so the visitor count reflects everyone who actually read a page. It changes nothing about what is collected, which is still aggregate and still nothing personal. If you would rather not be counted, setting plausible_ignore to true in your browser's local storage for this site excludes you, and we will not override it.

Things that are not cookies

A couple of ordinary web mechanics are worth mentioning, because people sometimes expect them to appear in a cookie policy:

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request information such as IP address, browser type and the page requested. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose faults, not to profile you.
  • Caching. Your browser stores images, fonts and stylesheets so pages load faster on your next visit. That is a normal browser cache, not a cookie, and you can clear it at any time.
  • The WhatsApp button. Tapping it hands you over to WhatsApp, which is run by a different company under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not set anything on your device when you tap it.

Managing cookies in your browser

Even though this site sets no cookies, you can control them generally through your browser settings, where you can block or delete cookies for any site. Blocking cookies broadly can stop other websites working properly.

If this changes

If we later add anything that does use cookies, we will update this page before it goes live and, where the law requires consent, ask for it first.
