What personal information Dakenzie collects when you get in touch, why we hold it, and the rights you have over it under POPIA.
Who we are
Dakenzie Group is the responsible party for the personal information described here, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). You can reach us on +27 83 232 5890 or at info@dakenzie.com.
What we collect
We collect the information you give us when you enquire about a job, whether that is by phone, email, WhatsApp or through a form on this site:
- Your name
- Your contact details, such as phone number and email address
- The service you need and the area you are in
- Anything else you choose to tell us about the job
- Your email address, if you sign up for updates
We do not ask for identity numbers, banking details or any special personal information through this website. Where an account is opened, we collect the billing details needed to invoice you.
How we use it
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, quote for the work, schedule and carry out the job, invoice you and keep the records a business is required to keep. If you have signed up for updates, we use your email address to send them until you tell us to stop.
We process this information because it is necessary to respond to your request and to perform a contract with you, because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our services, or because you have consented, as in the case of marketing emails.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We share it only where it is necessary to do the work or to meet a legal obligation: with the service providers who host this site and handle our email, with professional advisers such as our accountants, and with a regulator or authority where the law requires it.
Where it is stored
This site is hosted on infrastructure that may store or process data on servers outside South Africa. Where information is transferred across a border, we rely on the conditions for lawful transfer in section 72 of POPIA, which require the recipient to be subject to comparable protection.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry information for as long as it takes to deal with the enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you come back to us. Records connected to work we have carried out and invoiced are kept for the period required by tax and company law. Marketing sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe.
How we protect it
This site is served over HTTPS. We limit access to enquiry and customer information to the people who need it to do their job, and we take reasonable steps to guard against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we will tell you and the Information Regulator if a breach affects your information as POPIA requires.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- Ask us to delete information we no longer have grounds to keep
- Object to us processing your information in certain circumstances
- Withdraw consent to marketing at any time, without affecting anything done before
To exercise any of these, email us at info@dakenzie.com. We will respond within a reasonable period, and we may need to confirm your identity first.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you are entitled to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa). Their current contact details are published on their website at inforegulator.org.za. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
This site is aimed at businesses and adult customers. We do not knowingly collect personal information about children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The date at the top shows when it last changed. This version was last updated on 9 August 2026.
